May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time when much of the focus tends to be on teens and adults. But what about our youngest minds? Local school psychologist and children’s author Dr. Jim Price is shifting the spotlight to the emotional well-being of young children—where early intervention can make all the difference.
In a recent appearance on Studio 17, Dr. Price shared the importance of starting conversations about feelings at an early age. His latest release in The Adventures of Harold from the Hood series, “When I Feel So Annoyed,” helps children recognize and manage everyday frustrations through the experiences of a character they can relate to and learn from.
By normalizing feelings like annoyance and frustration—often dismissed as “small” emotions—Dr. Price encourages families to nurture emotional intelligence and build strong coping skills from the start.
